The Town of Fort Mill is excited to announce that work is underway on the walking trail widening project at Walter Y. Elisha Park, which began in mid-July.
The contractor completing the work, Eagle Wood Inc., will be incrementally removing the existing 6-foot-wide asphalt trail and replacing it with an 8-foot-wide concrete sidewalk.
The project will also include the addition of 38 new light poles and fixtures along the new path, as well as several new benches, picnic tables, bench swings, bike racks, security cameras and trash cans. The park will remain open during construction and the project will be done in phases to minimize any disruptions to Town events inside the park.
Fencing and detour signage will be clearly posted. The public should use caution when walking the trails and avoid any portions under construction. Thank you for your patience as we make these amazing additions to the park.
