Please note, contractors are scheduled to begin the first phase of the Spratt Street water line installation project on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. The project, which will see the installation of more than 1,500 feet of water line along Spratt Street, will begin at the intersection of McKenzie and Spratt streets. The contractor will be cutting open the road across Spratt and onto McKenzie, and drivers will notice two metal plates in the road during the next few weeks while the work is completed. Lane closures are expected during the repair and drivers should use caution when in the area.
Once complete, this project will replace water lines that are almost 60 years old and which were made of cast iron, which is more brittle than today’s ductile iron pipes.
The project is being funded by the SC Infrastructure Investment Program (SCIIP), which is administered by the SC Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) and funded by federal State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
