[ARCHIVED] Town Statement Regarding School Traffic Safety

Copy of Fort Mill School District Traffic Pattern Change

In a continued effort to ensure the safety of our roadways and community, the Town of Fort Mill will partner with the Fort Mill School District to enhance traffic safety measures at select school campuses during the first two weeks of the 2025–26 school year.

Officers from the Fort Mill Police Department will be present to assist with traffic flow and direct vehicles during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up at the following campuses where time-based right-turn restrictions have been implemented for vehicles exiting school property:

  • Catawba Ridge High School
  • Fort Mill Elementary School
  • Fort Mill Middle School
  • River Trail Elementary School
  • Riverview Elementary School

"At the end of the day, the safety of our community members is paramount,” said Fort Mill Mayor Guynn Savage. “I commend our police officers for their proactive involvement, and I appreciate the ongoing collaboration with the Fort Mill School District and our local legislators, David Martin and Michael Johnson, as we work toward long-term solutions.”

We appreciate the community’s support as we take these important steps to keep everyone safe.
