Following a successful inaugural year, the Town of Fort Mill’s Second Saturday Service litter pick-up initiative will return for five months in 2022.
Litter continues to be a prevalent issue in Fort Mill, often clogging sewer drains, cluttering green spaces and harming local wildlife. To help combat those issues, the Town will again partner with the community through its Second Saturday Service initiative to restore beauty back to Fort Mill. In 2021, the Town saw 162 volunteers collect an estimated 137 bags of trash through this program, and we hope to surpass those numbers this year.
Registration is now open for our entire season, with events taking place April 9, May 14, June 11, Sept. 10 and Oct. 8. Volunteers can sign up below for this year's five Second Saturday events, and can choose the location of their clean up (as long as it is within Town limits). Click below to sign up:

The Town has highlighted several areas which have seen an increase in litter, including U.S. 21, Fort Mill Parkway, Springfield Parkway, Highway 160, Spratt Street, Steele Street, and North and South Doby’s Bridge Road. Volunteers will be able to select any of those options, or a road of their own choosing within Town limits, when they register.
Participants will be able to sign in each of those Saturdays from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the white Town tent in Veterans Park, 106 N. White St., to collect trash bags, gloves, and vests, as well as a small gift of thanks from the Town. Trash bags will be collected by Town staff following the event each month.
We’re also asking volunteers to share their litter pick-up success stories by posting a photo of their clean-up with the hashtag #PickItUpPrideFortMIll.
