The Mission of the Fort Mill Fire Department is to be safe, efficient, and effective with the available resources in all that we do. We strive to provide superior quality service to the entire community.
History of the FMFD
The Fort Mill Fire Department was established in 1915 as a result of a large downtown fire. The department remained fully volunteer until December 1994 when the first paid firefighters was hired by the Town of Fort Mill. As the town has grown, the department has grown in turn. Today, we respond to approximately 3,000 emergency calls a year with a staff of 62 full-time personnel and 4 part-time personnel.
