As of Sept. 29, 2022, the Town of Fort Mill is staying updated on upcoming weather conditions in our area.
According to the National Weather Service, tropical storm conditions are possible on Friday, Sept. 30, with an 80 percent chance of rain showers mainly after 10 a.m. Rain amounts during the day could total up to 3 inches. Local forecasts predict there could be wind gusts up to 45 mph, though these forecasts are subject to change. Showers are also expected on Saturday with wind gusts as high as 22 mph.
Drivers are cautioned this could create dangerous road conditions on Friday and Saturday. These conditions could also create power outages in our area. In preparation, please keep the following items in mind:
- Keep your cell phones and laptops charged in case of a power outage.
- Make sure you have an adequate supply of food, medicine, bottled water, batteries and flashlights.
- Keep your car fueled.
- Stay safe from carbon monoxide by making sure you always run your car in a well-ventilated space such as an open garage, and only operate a generator outside.
- Check on friends, family and neighbors, especially those with special needs.
- Per Duke Energy, always stay away from fallen or sagging power lines.
Please note, trash and recycling collection is still scheduled to operate as normal on Friday, Sept. 30. We ask that once your trash and recycling carts are emptied, they are pulled back into your home as soon as possible to prevent them from blowing into streets.
Emergency services will operate as normal.
