About Business Licenses
Every person or entity engaged or intending to engage business within the town limits is required to obtain a Town of Fort Mill business license based on business activity and gross receipts. Business licenses are issued per business license year, which run from May 1st of each year through April 30th. Please note that fees are due prior to commencing operations.
Renewals
Town of Fort Mill Business licenses are valid through the end of each business license year, which runs from May 1st of each year through April 30th of the following year. Business licenses must be renewed each license year by April 30th. Starting May 1st of each year, a 5% late penalty will be added on for each month or portion thereof until the fees are paid in full.

Applications
To obtain a business license or to apply for a renewal, please fill out the appropriate application below and email it to our Business License Staff or call our staff at (803) 547-2034. Applications will be reviewed in the order received. In-person applications will not be processed on the same day and may take up to 5-7 business days to process. To receive assistance in person, please schedule an appointment in advance.

Please note, business licenses are calculated based upon the rates from the Town of Fort Mill's adopted fee schedule. See Appendix A on page 11 in the ordinance to view the business license rate schedule.
