Fort Mill- Our Path Forward
In February 2025, Town of Fort Mill staff engaged planning and engineering firm Bolton & Menk to begin the Fort Mill: Our Path Forward project. This project will establish an updated vision for the Town of Fort Mill for the next twenty years, looking not only at the Town as a whole, but also including a Downtown Master Plan and Parks and Recreation Master Plan.
The time has come to present our draft Fort Mill- Our Path Forward Comprehensive Plan and Downtown Master Plan first to the Town of Fort Mill Planning Commission and then the Fort Mill Town Council. A public hearing and first reading will be held at Town Council on Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, at 6 p.m. Tentative second reading will be held March 23, 2026 at 6 p.m. All meetings are held in Fort Mill Town Council Chambers located at 205 N. White St.

Keep an eye out for further community engagement opportunities as this initiative moves forward!
As part of this project, the Town is embarking on the development of a 2045 Comprehensive Plan to create a long-term vision for the future. This initiative aims to encourage the community to think holistically about our future. We will engage in a community-wide conversation about the future of Fort Mill— where we are now and where we envision ourselves in the next twenty years and beyond.
Our first open house to gather public input for this initiative was held April 9, 2025 at Unity Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall and was attended by 65 community members. The Town held a second public input session on June 11 at Fort Mill Elementary School. Residents were able to view the plan and offer suggestions at both meetings. If you missed the opportunity to attend the open house meetings, you can click on this link to see everything that was presented. See below for photos from the drop-in public meetings on April 9 and June 11, 2025, as well as photos from Fort Mill Town Council's May 12, 2025 workshop meeting where the Comprehensive Plan was discussed in detail.
Residents were also able to share their thoughts via an online survey which has now closed. In total, we received responses from 865 community members as part of the survey. Thank you to everyone who participated! Keep an eye on this page for updates as the Town formalizes this document.

The Town of Fort Mill is developing a Downtown Master Plan as part of its Fort Mill: Our Path Forward initiative, focusing on strategies to enhance walkability, support local businesses, improve public spaces, and preserve Downtown Fort Mill's unique charm.
We have been gathering community input to shape the future of the downtown area—its streets, public spaces, businesses, and overall character. The community was able to share feedback through our Downtown Master Plan survey which closed on July 18.
We would like to thank all the citizens who took their time to participate in the Fort Mill Downtown Survey. We are pleased to report we had 1,435 responses.
