Birthday Cutoff

The birthday cutoff for the Fall 2021 season is December 31st, 2021. The age of the child on that day will determine the group they should be signed up for.

Instructional Soccer (U5)

U5

U5 Instructional soccer is offered every spring and fall to children who are league ages 3 and 4 (as of December 31st, 2021). This program is a great way to introduce your child to the game of soccer. Participants will learn the basic fundamentals of soccer (dribbling, kicking, and passing).

Practices and games will be held on Saturday Mornings (9:00 a.m.; 10:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m.) at the Doby Bridge Elementary Soccer field (behind the school). The first couple of weeks the teams will have practice where they will do drills to learn some of the basics. Instruction will be given be Independence Soccer Club coaches along volunteer coaches.

Games will begin after the first few Saturdays, where score is not kept. The coaches will act as the referees for these games. The Town of Fort Mill will provide shirts and socks; as well as medals at the conclusion of the season. Parents will be responsible for providing cleats, shin guards, shorts and mouthpieces.

Instructional Soccer (U7)

U7

U7 Instructional soccer is offered every spring and fall to children who are league ages 5 and 6 (as of December 31st, 2021). This program is a great way to introduce your child to the game of soccer. Participants will learn the basic fundamentals of soccer (dribbling, kicking, and passing).

Practices will be held on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 6:15 pm through the season. The first couple of weeks on Saturdays teams will practice with instruction given by Independence Soccer Club coaches along volunteer coaches. After the first few weeks games will be held on Saturday mornings from 9:00 to 10:45 am. All practices and games will be held at Springfield Elementary Soccer field - the field that is parallel to the Springfield Parkway. Scores and records will not be kept for this league. The Town of Fort Mill will provide shirts and socks, as well as participation medals at the end of the season. Parents will be responsible for providing cleats, shin guards, shorts, and mouthpieces (optional).

Competitive Soccer (U9 through U14)

U9 - U14

In our U9 through U14 age groups, single-gender teams are formed (U9 is 7 to 8 years old; U11 is 9 to 10 years old; U14 is 11 to 13 years old). Age determined by how old the child is on December 31st, 2021. Teams typically practice two nights per week for an hour each session with games being held on Friday (evenings), Saturday (between 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) and an occasional Sunday (between 1:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.). Practice days, times, and locations are determined by the coach that the child gets drafted by.

The games continue to grow in competition as the children get older. The Town of Fort Mill will provide shirts, shorts and socks; as well as participation medals at the end of the season. Parents will be responsible for providing cleats, shin guards, and mouthpieces (optional).
